Swimming Pool Services

Customers often ask “when is it the right time of the year to open our pool?” Early spring is generally a good time to begin balancing your pool water as it will prevent algae from forming when the warmer weather arrives. Our professional swimming pool opening services include the removal of the winter cover and winterization plugs, adding start-up pool chemicals, reassembling and starting up your pool filtration equipment for the season, putting in ladders, diving boards, lights and more.

Pool Closing Program

The best time to close your swimming pool is right after the warm weather goes, before it turns freezing. Algae growth is minimal during this time, which makes for an ideal and seamless pool closing process. Pool services typically involved in a pool closing include blowing out the plumbing lines, the winterization of filtration equipment, adding pool chemicals, swimming pool cover installation as well as disassembling all pool accessories including ladders, diving boards and lights.

Seasonal Pool Services

As the seasons change, regular swimming pool maintenance is required to ensure that your pool runs smoothly and safely for many summers to come. The experts at Fronheiser Pools provide yearly or weekly swimming pool maintenance on your pool as well as other services. Contact us for more information! No matter how big or small your pool problem may seem, you are in good hands with the dedicated Fronheiser Pools team on your side.

Testing and Balancing Your Pool

It is recommended that all pool owners test and balance their pool at least once a week. Follow the four(4) steps in order below:

STEP 1 – Test & Adjust Total Alkalinity
Ideal Range: 80 ppm – 120 ppm
Product to Use: Poolife Alkalinity Plus

STEP 2 –Test & Adjust pH
Ideal Range: 7.4 – 7.6
Product to Use to Increase pH: Poolife pH Plus
Product to Use to Decrease pH: Poolife pH Minus

STEP 3 – Test & Adjust Total Bromine or Chlorine
Ideal Range for Bromine Pools: 2 ppm – 4 ppm
Product to Use for Bromine Pools: Poolife Brominating Tablets
Ideal Range for Chlorine Pools: 1 ppm – 3 ppm
Products to Use for Chlorine Pools: Poolife Brite Stix, MPT Extra, 3” Cleaners Tablets or Instant Clear Cleaning Granules

STEP 4 – Test & Adjust Calcium Hardness
Ideal Range: 200 ppm – 300 ppm
Product to Use: Poolife Calcium Plus

STEP 5 – Test & Adjust Cyanuric Acid (Chlorine Pools Only)
Ideal Range: 30 ppm – 50 ppm
Product to Use: Poolife Stabilizer
Note: Cyanuric Acid levels in excess of 100 ppm is unnecessary and may lead to bacterial and algae growth.

Algae-Free Water in 3 Easy Steps

In addition to maintaining properly balanced water, follow the below steps while running your pool pump 8-12 hours a day:

STEP 1 – Sanitize
Use AquaZone Bromine Tablets, Poolife MPT Extra Chlorine Tablets, or any Poolife Chlorine product to bring your pool to the appropriate sanitizer level. See above for recommended Bromine and Chlorine levels.

STEP 2 –Shock
Use any Poolife Turbo Shock, or any Poolife Oxidizer product on a weekly basis to shock your pool, and thus destroy contaminants & maintain clarity. Always broadcast shock product evenly across the pool water while the pump is turned on. Brush away any remnants from the pool surface towards the deep end drains

STEP 3 – Algaecide
Use Poolife Defend +, or any Poolife Algaecide, on a weekly basis as an algae preventative. It is always better to prevent algae from growing than to deal with a green pool.

Recommended Spa Water Parameters

Recommended spa water parameters are as follows:
pH: 7.2 – 7.8
Alkalinity: 80- 120 ppm
Calcium Hardness: 100–200 ppm
Chlorine: 3-5 ppm
Bromine: 2-4 ppm

Spa Guidelines

Draining your spa every 3-4 months will help maintain a cleaner spa environment and keep odors from developing in the tub.

Testing and balancing your spa water 2-3 times weekly will protect the spa and bathers from unsanitary conditions and prolong the life of the spa.

Using “SPA” chemicals in your hot tub will help you maintain the water balance easier and protect the tub from harm. Chemicals that do not state that they are for spa usage are likely not designed for the unique water conditions of a spa.

Cleaning the spa filters on a monthly basis will allow your water to be filtered properly and help you to maintain good water clarity. A “SPA” filter cleaner is always a good idea to remove oils in the filter that build up and eventually clog and damage the cartridge filter. Using a spa filter cleaner will prolong the life of your spa filter, will give you cleaner water and will ultimately save you money.

Using UV or mineral sanitizer in a spa can reduce the amount of chlorine needed to maintain clean safe spa water. However, every spa still needs to use an EPA registered sanitizer (i.e. Chlorine, Bromine or BAQUA Spa).
